I just have a lot of feelings about this picture

I just want to kiss it.
Let me see if I can guess what's going on: it looks like they're praying before a shard of glass. Coupled with the title, could this be a post-war ritual done asking forgiveness from the gods for having followed the false Prophets into genocide?
I'm also digging the scar on the guy's back. It looks like the IRIS symbol. With his green eyes, I might guess it's our lovely friend Rtas, but he's a little unmangled and that towel's he's wearing hasn't been stolen yet.
Unless it's a curtain...
And you, sir, are spot on! That was indeed the concept behind this. Some fellas just got to cope, you know? The idea of a powerful alien race having to come to terms (or in some cases continue to struggle with/deny) that they royally effed up is a huge area of interest for me.
The big scar on the elite's upper back is the Mark of Shame. (Self inflicted or not, who knows?) I hadn't intended it to be anyone in particular, but I gave him green eyes so they would give a spot of contrast against all the red. (Also I just like green eyes okay Rtas spoiled me HE HAS THEM DARN IT.)
Also it could totally be a curtain, you never know.
